Heraghty’s Bar - A Discussion in Successful Design

The whole piece contains tension and is asymmetrical, but nonetheless:

  • the lines without colour radiate diagonally from bottom left to top right. This is balanced by the curved and horizontal lines

  • The colours are balanced diagonally from bottom right to top left, especially the red

  • The ambers at top and bottom balance each other

  • The colours are harmonious within the whole piece.

So, although the design is asymmetrical, the whole is harmonious due to the colour arrangement set against the design. These elements make for a beautiful design and a desirable piece. It shows colour harmony and choice are important in relation to the design.
